A Hot Air Balloon Bulletin Board For Reading
Does your school celebrate reading in March? If so, this bulletin board is perfect. In this post, I’ll walk you through how to put together this hot air balloon bulletin.
Oh, The Places We’ll Read Bulletin Board
Want a bulletin board that’s not only eye-catching but also promotes reading? You’ll love this hot air balloon-themed board.
Each student will soar across the bulletin board in their own balloon. No two hot air balloons are exactly alike, just like no two young readers are alike. So grab your scissors and markers because it’s time to get started.

How To Create The Hot Air Balloon Bulletin Board:
This hot air balloon bulletin board really pops with the 3-D hot-air balloons, colors, and photos of the kids. It’s pretty easy to put together, though. Here’s how:
Step 1: Take The Photos
Take a picture of each student standing against a solid-colored wall. The pictures should be about 3 inches tall. Encourage the kids to wave and have fun in the photos.
Step 2: Make The Hot Air Balloons
Have each kid complete the writing about a place they’d like to read about. Encourage them to tell why they’re interested in that setting.
Once the writing is done, assemble the hot-air balloons. Next, cut out the photos and glue the pictures into the hot air balloon baskets.
Step 3: Cover And Trim The Board
Cover the bulletin board with a solid color fabric or paper. Black or blue looks great. Staple cotton balls around the board’s edge and pull or spread them out to resemble clouds.
Step 4: Put The Hot Air Bulletin Board Together
Staple the lettering onto the bulletin board and then add the hot-air balloons. Spread them out and tilt them slightly.
Other ways to use the hot-air balloon craftivity:
This hot air balloon craftivity makes a great bulletin board, but it can also be hung from the ceiling (if your fire marshall allows that), paired with a writing activity, or used to practice rhyming. It’s flexible, so you can use it one way this year and switch it up if your class needs something different next year.
